Recycled Wearable Arts impress

Taradale High School Parent Teacher Association has run another successful wearable arts competition. This year, Wipe Out Waste sponsored the Year 7 and 8 EARTH category, where entrants had to use recycled materials for their creations. It was amazing to see the resulting outfits, and it was encouraging to see know Hawkes Bay has aspiring designers in its midst!

Ends of the Earth was the winner of the EARTH category, with a stunning piece. The model began her walk along the stage displaying the outside of the creation, and then stopped to unfurl the garment and reveal a fiery inner which took the audience's breath away.

The highly commended entries were also of a stunning standard. Miss Plastic, Lava Volcano, Mother Earth, and Landfill all had unique features and interpretations of the EARTH title. The judges certainly had their work made difficult by the detail and effort put into these amazing creations.

Congratulations to all those who participated in the 2004 Taradale Wearable Arts Awards, and particular commendations to those who received acknowledgements of success on the night. We look forward to doing it all again next year.
